Just as food for thought, suppose that the dead can see through the eyes of those willing to dedicate their lives to God. All the ancestors perhaps have our stories enshrined for education and judgment.
If you are a public figure, it may be worth noting what this could imply. The ancestors we honor, then also see you and your deeds from many unique perspectives too. How would you want to be perceived by them?
Perhaps you feel that the final analysis is not complete, right now. Then, in the next phase of your story to come, will you claim the glory of your own redemption arc? Or will some continue to be, perhaps, an embarrassment to the hard won resources that we are gifted off of the backs of past generations’ efforts and patience?
How we honor our place in the eyes of our kin, reflects deeply the actual value we hold within the very fabric of reality. If in doubt, repent the best you can within your current understanding and ability. That courage may honestly shatter some lives for a while. Yet those eyes that watch us, in kinship, will not stop to seek us. So we see that no effort in growth is wasted.
