When we are bored, sleepy, or in low emotions, even carrying our own limbs can seem difficult. The nervous system groans under the effort of fatigue and a sense that it is beneath the habitual baseline of homeostasis.
Homeostasis is in the habit of resisting redefinition, so I offer a simple way of conceptualizing how we might work with this factor of our inner nature. Just as solid objects settle inert beneath flowing waters, why not do as Bruce Lee suggests and “be water, my friends.”
It reminds me of an old Dad Joke. What’s Bruce Lee’s favorite drink? Besides “Lee-monade,” it would surely be “Wahr-Tah!” {best said with a one-inch punch gesture, of course.} When you consider the satisfying times, or even the euphoric ones if you’re lucky enough to experience them, those feelings flow. So, if we can find activities, music, and goals that promote a more flowing sense of being, perhaps we can move to higher states of emotion generally.
Breathing with flow and allowing our presence to feel into our flowing moment-to-moment possession of our entire body, we can begin to flow the breath into the whole of our experience. Sounds easy, and I guess it is really. It’s just our lifestyle was so long not in line with promoting this priority. If more people could commonly understand this, I’m confident the world would level up fairly quickly. It’s free, and no-one even need know you’re doing it. Anyway, I’m the first to admit I’m a novice and still refining the process. Why not give it a go? If you think it’s good, spread the word. Feeling good is better together.
All Glory be to God!
